Topic: Direction Of Music Over Time

True or False? Modern music has simplified the dynamics of music in comparison to much of the orchestral and "Classical" music of old.

Sean Whitman False. The music enthusiast of the 21st Century feels the same rush and thrill when listening to the dynamic compositions created by artists today as back in the Classical era. Our interpretation has changed. A flute can sound like a bird or rays of light depending on the placement in the orchestration. Just as a bright synth-line can conjure beauty or desolation depending on its placement in an orchestration. The dynamic is still there, it's just that the listener is experiencing a different lifestyle and so has a different interpretation and expectation of sound. It is no less dynamic, no less pure.
