On their second full-length album, the German duo Mnemonic deepens their perfectionist search for unique sterile ambiences generated by rhythmic high-tech electronic arrangements. A quest they had brilliantly initiated on the singles "A Day On My Own" and “Nahtot” which took them away from their early similarities with Front Line Assembly and pushing them closer to the IDM ambient industrial genre. "Konstruktive Vergangenheitsbewältigung" is an amazing conceptual production of intelligent electronica / ambient industrial, an album of bright and shimmering darkness. It is a breathtaking sonic journey through clinical atmospheres haunted by depressive freezing melodies, vaporous synth layers, vibrating distorted driven beats, and virulent noisy percolating bleeps. The dense, fascinating yet frightening atmospheres of their compositions are dominated by manipulated German vocal samples that bring you the weight of an intense suffocating feeling. You enter this dark dreamlike ultra-world through this expressive male voice that immediately seizes you by the throat and enthralls you into a vicious downward spiral.
