Toad The Wet Sprocket have provided over two
decades of music that has helped define Alternative Rock and Folk Rock. Early in
their careers, they have been considered to be the perfect compliment of fusing
of REM and The Connells. The comparison was fitting, but limited when a listener hears the full scope of Toad The Wet Sprocket's collection of music.
In the 80's, they named their band in honor of a sketch by Monty Python. The
following decade they captured the hearts of many with many of the songs on
Dulcinea and Fear. Everyone knows the masterpiece, Walk On The Ocean, but
there were many songs that could reach into the heart strings with their
empathic approach in the music.
As time passed, the band disbanded a number of times as the members took
different paths in life and music. Some good things never die. In 2006, Toad The
Wet Sprocket would reform with a new collective of music that held the spirit of
their older music, but with an approach that showed their progression as artists
and individuals. The music still has that immeasurable quality that has held
their music close to their fans, but with a fresh vitality.
Since Toad The Wet Sprocket has reformed, they have been hard at work in the
studios and on numerous tours. The combination and the pace that the band has
taken is impressive. It shows their love for the music they make and the fans
that enjoy hearing the music. It is this dedication and passion that has
endeared them to countless. It is also where we are honored to have them as the
Music Eternal Band Of The Month for July 2015.
